From Ocean Collection to “7 Seas Collection”
FROM OCEAN COLLECTION TO 7 SEAS COLLECTION
No one can change the world alone, we need the 5 continents working together to protect the 7 seas.
To “sail the 7 seas” is a common expression used among sailors, as a way of saying they will sail across the world or all the seas and oceans of the world. We believe this expression represents the vastness of the ocean which needs to be protected in all 5 continents. We need to understand that we are all a part of the same problems and that we have the responsibility to work together towards the common goal of living in a world that is in harmony with the natural environment. No one can change the world alone, we need the 5 continents working together to protect the 7 seas.
EIGHT MILLION TONS OF PLASTIC ARE DUMPED INTO THE OCEAN EVERY YEAR AND AN ESTIMATED 10% OF IT COMES FROM DISCARDED FISHING GEAR.
This collection is made with 100% recycled fishing nets which are collected together with other forms of harmful waste such as old jeans, plastic bottles, metals and wood from demolitions by local rural communities in Patagonia, Chile. We are collaborating with the B Corporation BalloonLatam to turn this waste into a source of income for local rural entrepreneurs in Patagonia so they can scale their sustainable businesses and create economic opportunities that can empower their own communities.
We want to help change the perspective we have about plastic and other wastes in order to use our eyewear as an example of the different point of view we can have about the way we make business and interact with our planet.
*More information about this collaboration will be available as of October 2017.
